Nearly 7,600 reports of assaults on HSE staff last year

There were nearly 7,600 reports of assaults on HSE staff last year.

Over 5,800 were physical, while 41 were sexual and nearly 1,700 were verbal.

According to freedom of information figures, almost half of the victims were nurses.

Phil Ni Sheaghdha from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation, says it’s a very serious problem.
