Fullerton family welcome official recognition of collusion belief

The daughter of Eddie Fullerton says for their belief that there was collusion in his murder to be officially recognised is to be welcomed.

Donegal County Councillor Eddie Fullerton was shot dead at his home in Buncrana in 1991.

The Police Ombudsman’s report published today revealed that Eddie Fullerton was not notified that personal information relating to him had been found in a loyalist intelligence ‘cache’ in Derry in November 1989, almost two years before his death.

Mrs Marie Anderson also found that there was no record that intelligence requests from Gardai between June 1991 and January 1993 were responded to by RUC Special Branch in the case of Mr Fullerton.

She says concerns of collusive behaviours raised by the Fullerton family were legitimate and justified.

Amanda Fullerton says the report raises concerns that now need to be addressed:

Wife of Gerard Casey welcomes PONI report

The wife of Gerard Casey who now lives in Donegal, says the Police Ombudsman’s report is vindication for them.

Gerard Casey was murdered by the UDA/UFF on April 4th 1989 at his home in Rasharkin.

Two gunmen forced open the front door of the address with a sledgehammer before shooting Mr Casey a number of times in front of his wife and infant daughter.

The Greenwich report highlighted that despite some evidence, a number of people were never arrested or not arrested until sometime later.

Gerard’s wife, Una Casey Egan says the report is another step in their campaign for justice:

Greenwich report highlights failings in Patrick Shanaghan death

The Police Ombudsman of Northern Ireland, Mrs Marie Anderson has identified collusive behaviours in 19 murders and multiple attempted murders in the North West between 1989 and 1993.

One of those is the killing of 33 year old Patrick Shanagan from Aghyaran, Co Tyrone who was shot dead while travelling to work in Castlederg in 1991.

Among a number of failings, the Greenwich report found that police failed to allow a doctor examine the body of Mr Shanaghan at the scene.

His brother in law, Martin Bogues says for the family, that is one of the most disturbing findings:
