Deputy Pringle tells Dail assessment waiting lists for children is ‘nothing short of neglect’

A Donegal Deputy has told the Dail that the current waiting list for assessments of children with disabilities is nothing short of neglect.

Deputy Thomas Pringle was speaking in the Dail last evening on a motion on assessment of needs for children with disabilities.

He says the current system is broken with parents struggling to receive a proper assessment of children’s needs.

Deputy Pringle says there is a clear lack of ambition on the behalf of the Government to address the matter:

Over €2 million announced for Donegal island road upgrades

Over €2 million in funding has been announced for island road upgrades in Donegal.

A total of 14 road projects are being funded on Arranmore, Tory, Inisbofin and Gola island.

To date, roads on the islands have suffered neglect as they were not under the remit of Donegal County Council and therefore did not qualify for certain funding streams.

Today’s announcement is part of an agreement between the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Council which once the works are complete will see the local authority take charge of the roads.

Donegal Deputy Joe McHugh in welcoming the funding says it’s vital that further investment is forthcoming:

Price of fuel needs to be maintained at €1.75 per litre – Deputy Doherty

Sinn Fein is calling for the price of fuel to be immediately reduced to €1.75 a litre.

The government is due to meet this morning to bring in a cut to excise duty on petrol and diesel, resulting in a 15% to 20% reduction per litre.

However, it’s feared any reduction could soon be cancelled out, as oil prices spiral globally due to the war in Ukraine.

Prices in many forecourts reached €2 a litre this week.

Sinn Fein’s Finance Spokesperson, Donegal Deputy Pearse Doherty says the price of petrol and diesel needs to be maintained at €1.75 a litre:
