Tanaiste says Mica redress scheme will be adequately funded in 2022

The Tánaiste has given reassurances that the Mica Redress Scheme will be adequately funded in 2022 and topped up if needs be.

There is an allocation of 40 million euro for the scheme in next year’s budget but concern arose after comments made by the Housing Minister indicated that may be the sum total.

But Leo Varadkar says that is the initial allocation but additional money can be allocated should that run out.

Responding to questions from Donegal Deputy Padraig MacLochlainn, the Tánaiste says the Government wouldn’t allow a situation where progress was halted:

Amber Barrett – One on my best moments in an Irish jersey

Amber Barrett

Amber Barrett played her part in creating history with the Republic of Ireland ladies on Tuesday night as they beat Georgia 11-0 setting a new record for most goals in a single game.

The Milford native was one of three Donegals players along with Roma McLaughlin and Ciara Grant who featured as second half substitutes.

Barrett scored Ireland’s tenth goal which surpassed the old record of nine.

Ireland end the year second in Women’s World Cup qualifying Group A, and with a very healthy goal difference.

Garda praised for swift action in Letterkenny rescue

A potential tragedy was averted in Letterkenny recently thanks to the swift action of a local Garda.

Work to start on new wastewater treatment plant in Kilcar

Work is set to start on a new wastewater treatment plant in Kilcar.

The works are part of the Kilcar Sewerage Scheme and are aimed at eliminating the discharge of raw sewage into Tawny Bay.

In a statement Irish Water say that once operational, the new plant and associated infrastructure will ensure compliance with wastewater discharge regulations.

It is also set to improve water quality in Tawny Bay and protect recreational waters for swimming, surfing, fishing, boating and sightseeing, as well as protecting the integrity of the local marine environment and supporting future economic and social development.
