There’s been a drop in the number of people waiting on a trolley at Letterkenny University Hospital today.
However, according to the INMO it remains the second most overcrowded hospital in the country.
47 people are waiting on a bed at the hospital. 10 patients are waiting in the Emergency Department while a further 37 are waiting on wards.
A total of 365 people are on trolleys at hospitals across the country this morning.
Concern has been raised over delays to dredging at Magheroarty Pier.
A foreshore licence application was submitted by Donegal County Council in January to commence dredging but to date, the go ahead has not been given.
The Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage say the application is currently pending.

The General Secretary of the Irish National Teachers Organisation has accused public health of walking away from primary schools at the end of September.
John Boyle says as a result, Covid-19 has spiralled out of control in schools.
Latest figures show 6,077 primary school students tested positive for the virus during the month of November.

The Agriculture Minister says he’s “hopeful” the Republic of Ireland can avoid another lockdown.
It comes as NPHET meet today to consider recommending new restrictions, after the first case of the Omicron variant in the Republic of Ireland was identified yesterday.

A Donegal Deputy is backing calls for adequate ventilation in the workplace.
The Workplace Ventilation Bill was debated in the Dail yesterday and if passed would pave the way for work to be carried out to provide sufficient air quality in businesses and schools as part of the battle against Covid-19.
It has been described as a practical measure and one that should make a real difference.

Croke Park have confirmed the fixture details for next season’s Allianz Leagues.
Donegal will begin their Division One campaign with an away tie to Mayo on Sunday 30th January and with no ground available to Mayo next year the game will be played at Markievicz Park in Sligo throwing in at 1.45pm.
Donegal have four home games next season with McCumhaill Park to host three and the O’Donnell Park in Letterkenny to host their final game at the end of March.
Kildare on Sunday 6th February at 2.30pm, the Tyrone game on Saturday 26th February under floodlights at 7.30pm and Monaghan on Sunday 13th March at 1.45pm will all be played at the Ballybofey venue.
The fourth home and final divisional game against Armagh on 26th March will be in Letterkenny at 1.45pm.
That’s just several weeks before the two sides clash again in the championship in Ballybofey.
Donegal’s away game to Kerry is in Killarney on Sunday 20th February at 1.45pm and the trip to Croke Park to face Dublin on Sunday 20th March will have a 3.45pm throw in.

A south Donegal Deputy is calling on the Taoiseach to take immediate action on hospital overcrowding in the North West.
Deputy Marian Harkin says the region is coming out on top time and time again when it comes to overcrowding.
Yesterday there were almost 80 people awaiting admission at both Letterkenny and Sligo University Hospitals, 54 of them in Letterkenny.
Speaking in the Dail Deputy Harkin says at Sligo University Hospital, which serves people living in south Donegal, there is a major issue around the employment of agency staff and it needs to be tackled urgently:

The Mica Action Group have described their trip to Brussels as successful.
Representatives of the group travelled to Brussels on Tuesday as part of their campaign for 100% redress.
Yesterday, petitions presented to the EU Petitions Committee received unanimous support from MEPs. A written response from the EU Commission has now been requested.
A report is also expected to be requested from the Irish Government on the defective block issue.

Donegal’s Ciara Grant has been named on the Women’s National League Team of the Year.
Ciara was a crucial part of the Shelbourne side which won the League title on the final day of the season and finished runners up in the FAI Cup.
Grant is also part of the Republic of Ireland ladies international squad and she made a second half appearance in Tuesday’S historic win over Georgia.
Shelbourne Manager Noel King was named the Manger of the Year, Kylie Murphy of Wexford Youths has been named the Women’s SSE Airtricity League Player of the Year, her Wexford teammate Aoibheann Clancy claimed the Young Player award.
