Donegal IT company to create 20 new jobs

Donegal company Content Llama has secured €2.5 million in funding to expand its global presence, with 20 new jobs to be created over the next year.

The funding round was led by Elkstone Partners and The Western Development Commission.

The company uses its own proprietary Content Configuration Technology platform to support online retailers.

The Enterprise Ireland backed company currently employs 42 people, including 14 full time and 2 part time staff in Ireland with the remaining employees based in countries such as Ukraine, Portugal, The Netherlands, South Africa and Spain.

Content Llama secure €2.5 million in fundraising to help accelerate growth

 

Donegal-based data technology company also expects to create up to 20 new positions within the next year

 

DONEGAL, 11 November – Content Llama, Ireland’s leading content configuration technology (CCT) platform, has today announced that it has secured €2.5 million in fundraising to further expand its presence globally and broaden its reach to potential customers. The funding round was led by Elkstone Partners and The Western Development Commission. 

Content Llama was founded by Karina Kelly and Joleen Looney in 2019 and uses its proprietary Content Configuration Technology platform that automates the collection, configuration and delivery of multi-source product content for e-commerce retailers and in turn connects brands and retailers in a more meaningful way. As part of the announcement, it is expected that up to 20 new positions will be created in the next 12 months which will include roles in product engineering, customer success and business development. 

The Enterprise Ireland backed company currently employs 42 people including 14 full time and 2 part time staff in Ireland with the remaining employees based in countries such as Ukraine, Portugal, The Netherlands, South Africa and Spain. Content Llama collaborates with over 3,600 global brands to configure content at scale for well-known clients such as Walmart, Aer Rianta International, and Lifestyle Sports and expect to expand on this in the future as the business continues on its successful growth trajectory. The company will focus on international clients, particularly in the United States from it’s Chicago base as it heads into 2022.

Mica cap of €400,000 being considered – IT

It’s being reported this morning that an enhanced scheme for mica affected homeowners may have a new cap of up to €400,000, with the details set to come before cabinet on Tuesday week.

The Irish Times is reporting this morning that ministers and officials are locked in discussionson how to balance the final costs with the requirements of the thousands of homeowners whose properties have been affected.

This morning’s Irish Times is quoting sources as saying that the issues under discussion include the size of the cap on works, and whether or not rental properties will be included in the scheme.

Officials are understood to be concerned that including these properties could significantly widen the scheme and impact on the overall cost.

A source also told the paper there is potentially political difficulty over ancillary costs, with some homeowners saying that testing and engineers reports at up to €15,000.

Householders are also predicting rental costs of up to €18,000 qhile their homes are being repaired, but it’s reported that a figure of €10,000 is currently being proposed.

An industry levy to co-fund the cost of the scheme is being worked on, and Houasing Minister Darragh O’Brien has met the Attorney General to discuss how to identify and pursue those responsible for the mica crisis.

Government under pressure to prioritise North West in NDP

 

The Dail has heard calls on the Government to prioritise the North West as part of the National Development Plan to address regional imbalance.

Both Letterkenny and Sligo have been highlighted as key areas which need an injection of opportunities and investment.

Government want to roll out school antigen testing ‘as soon as they can’

 

The Health Minister says Government want to roll out antigen testing in schools as soon as they can.

Contact tracing and routine mass testing in schools was pulled at the end of September.

Teaching unions have been critical of the decision and have requested antigen testing be introduced.

Minister Stephen Donnelly says a plan is being worked on.

Council CEO welcomes TU status for LYIT

The Chief Executive of Donegal County Council says the designation of Letterkenny Institute of Technology as a Technological University will help market Donegal abroad.

John McLaughlin was speaking after the council signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the college, setting out a number of goals to be achieved through collaboration over the next five years.

John McLaughlin told Highland Radio News that the new designation is a fairer and more accurate description of what LYIT means to Donegal.

He says the agreement between the council and the college is an important one………

Jim McGuinness focused on soccer not Down GAA

Jim McGuinness has distanced himself from a rumoured coaching position with the Down senior footballers.

The ex-Donegal manager had been linked to a coaching ticket of prospective Down boss, Conor Laverty.

However, the Derry City u19 coach says he wants to focus on pursuing roles in soccer.

Jim told the Irish Times, “Over the course of the winter months a number of county teams have been in contact with me with a view to manager’s jobs and coaching roles,”

“I spoke with all of them because I do love coaching and out of respect, really. You are going to listen to what someone has to say. And I told them all the same story – that I am very much focused on soccer at the moment and waiting to see what might happen or not happen at the end of the season.”

“And I am concentrating on that right now. And that’s all there is to it, really. The only Gaelic football team I am coaching at the moment is the local under-12s as I have two children involved.”

Man arrested in Derry in connection with a number of offences

 

A man been arrested in Derry in connection with a number of drug related offences.

Officers from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Paramilitary Crime Task Force, investigating suspected drugs criminality linked to the INLA, searched two properties in the city this morning.

During the searches a small quantity of suspected Class B controlled drugs and a sum of money were seized.

A 21 year old man has been arrested on suspicion of a number of offences including possession of Class B drugs with intent to supply, possession of class B drugs and conspiracy to transfer criminal property

In a statement, Detective Inspector Kerry Brennan said: “The possession and supply of drugs within communities should not, and indeed will not, be tolerated.

“Today’s arrest, and drugs’ seizure, reflects our ongoing commitment to safeguarding local people.

“We will continue to work with communities and our partners in the Paramilitary Crime Task Force to disrupt those involved in such criminal activities and reduce the harm they cause in our communities.

Anyone with any information that can assist officers with their investigations should contact police on 101.

Holohan concerned at contacts as Covid stats are published

74 Covid-related deaths have been reported over the past week.

It’s the highest total since NPHET started reporting deaths on a WEEKLY basis five months ago.

2,975 new cases have also been confirmed today.

551 Covid patients are in hospital – the highest since late February – with 89 in intensive care.

Chief medical officer, Tony Holohan, says the public hasn’t responded to NPHET’s call for a drop in social contacts………….
