DCC being urged to progress Downings promenade plan

Donegal County Council is being urged to include a sum of money in next year’s budget to progress plans for a promenade in Downings.

The issue is to be raised at a Letterkenny Milford Municipal District meeting this afternoon by Cllr John O’Donnell, who says between €20,000 and €25,000 is needed to make a foreshore licence application in the next twelve months.

He says a local committee made a previous funding application, but it failed, partly because there wasn’t sufficient input from the council.

Cllr O’Donnell says a prom would serve the tourism sector, but also help people with disabilities……….

He says availing of public transport is not an option as it is too unreliable.

Stop ‘leaking trial balloons’ as Mica redress discussions continue – Pringle

The Government is being urged to stop ‘leaking trial balloons’ as it relates to the Mica Redress Scheme.

Details of a so-called ‘enhanced scheme’ were due to be published today however, it is being delayed as further adjustments are to be carried out.

It’s after speculation that a cap of €350,000 would be included in the scheme which, in turn, would have excluded around 40% of mica affected householders.

Donegal Deputy Thomas Pringle says those affected have waited long enough, the Government should stop leaking and sort it once and for all:

Calls for change of Breast Check location in Letterkenny

There are calls for the Breast Check Unit in Letterkenny to change location.

Currently the unit sits outside the Public Service Centre in the town however there’s concern that the site is currently not ideal due to construction taking place nearby and a lack of privacy for those attending.

It is proposed to move the unit to the new car park adjacent to the Public Service Centre.

Local Cllr Michael McBride is due to raise the matter at a sitting of the Letterkenny MD later today.

He says its current location is just unsuitable:
