‘Frustration’ among pharmacists over vaccine rules

A Donegal Pharmacist says there is frustration among the pharmacy community over not being able to utilise their daily Covid-19 vaccine supply for booster shots.

This week it emerged that one pharmacist in the county disposed of 24 leftover vaccines as they are prohibited to administer them as a booster.

Local Pharmacist Margret O’Doherty says the root of the problem lies with the Government and that a senior Minister should have been designated from the start to deal solely with the vaccination programme:

Finn Harps host a huge North West Derby clash this evening as neighbours Derry City come to town. Kick-off at Finn Park is 8pm and the game is live on Highland with Diarmaid Doherty and Declan Boyle in association with B&S Credit Union Ballybofey.

Speaking ahead of the game, Ollie Horgan told FinnHarps.ie: “Derry will be coming here looking to cement their place in Europe and that’s a good barometer of the task in front of us. Ruaidhri and his team have done a fantastic job since coming in and they added some serious quality to an already strong squad with the likes of McGonagle and Junior signing in the Summer window and so it’s no surprise that they’ve kicked on like they have.

All four games this season have been incredibly tight with only a goal making the difference, if even, and we’re hopeful it will be the same come Friday and that we’ll be in with a shout with fifteen minutes to go. ”

In team news, Sean Boyd is suspended after being sent off on Monday night against Drogheda. Adam Foley, Johnny Dunleavy, Shane McEleney, Ethan Boyle and Barry McNamee are doubts.

Derry City to make call on Ronan Boyce today

It’s the end of a very busy week for Derry City on Friday evening as they make the short trip to Ballybofey to take on near neighbours Finn Harps (KO 8pm).

Late goals at home to Bohemians last Friday and away at Waterford on Tuesday mean the Candystripes head into the game still in fourth place in the table, while the home side are desperate for points in the race to avoid the end of season play-off.

It’s been a mixed bag of results for both teams since their entertaining 2-2 draw at the Brandywell; Derry picking up nine points and Harps six in seven league outings since then.

Manager Ruaidhri Higgins knows full well that form counts for little heading into a ‘derby’ and a difficult night awaits his side, but says they are fully focused on the game.

“It’s honours even in the three league matches between us so far and it will be very tight again on Friday. Everyone is talking about european places and finishing positions in the table, but we’re concerning ourselves with trying to pick up three very valuable points and nothing else.”

“Ronan Boyce is struggling after picking up a knock in Waterford but we’ll give him until Friday morning and make a decision then. Marc Walsh is definitely out but Ciaron Harkin returns after suspension and everyone else is good to go.”

“We’re really looking forward to the game and will be doing everything in our power to win it” he concluded.

The clinics are open from 12 noon today and are also running tomorrow and Sunday.

There’s a hugely important north-west derby at Finn Park this evening as Finn Harps take on arch rivals Derry City.

Harps are currently second bottom and occupy the relegation play-off spot while City are still pushing for a possible place in Europe next season.

Already this season Harps have chalked up their first ever league win at the Brandywell and beat the Candystripes for the first time in the FAI Cup.

With so much at stake it’s likely to be a close affair.

Here’s former Finn Harps goalkeeper Gavin Cullen…
