Hopes for expansion of Letterkenny town bus service

It is hoped that an area in Letterkenny will be catered by the town bus service in the near future.

Currently, Oldtown and surrounding areas are not currently serviced by the bus and in many cases, it’s understood that some elderly people have had to use taxis to get into the town centre.

Donegal County Council anticipates that the area will be included in upcoming proposals to enhance the service.

Cllr Donal Coyle says its important that that will materialise:

Reviewed Growth Plan for Derry and Strabane gets green light

A reviewed Draft Plan for Derry and Strabane has been given approval.

The Inclusive Strategic Growth Plan – or Community Plan – for the area provides the framework for all community and strategic development until 2032, and was first published after an extensive campaign of public engagement in November 2017.

The Draft Plan will be available to view online and the public’s views will be sought on the document, with a nine-week public consultation launching on Monday.

A series of public workshops will also take place in March, to provide opportunities to engage on the range of themes set out within the plan.

Progress has already been identified across a number of the outcomes with indications that 65% of the indicators are showing an upward trend towards progress, with 77% of the actions within the plan being delivered and 11% of projects already complete.

If this trend continues, by 2032 it’s expected that the required investment of £3.4bn will deliver 15,100 new jobs, 10,000 additional people, £203m additional wages and £1.1bn additional GVA.

Finn Harps have announced the signing of midfielder Élie-Gaël N’Zeyi Kibonge.

The Frenchman most recently played with Pohronie in Slovakia’s Fortuna Liga. He came through the Amiens SC academy before spending time with Bastia-Borgo and Évreux 27.

He told FinnHarps.ie: “I’m looking forward to my new challenge here in Ireland. The squad and the people at the club have made me feel very welcome. I’m excited to meet the fans and for a good season.”

Ollie Horgan told club media: “Élie has impressed us since he came in so we’re happy to have him signed up now ahead of the season kick-off. He’s a big, strong lad coming from a good league. It’s been a while since he’s played competitive games so he’s not quite up to full speed yet but it’s great to have him on board.

With the first game just a week away I’d like to thank the members of the 500 Club for their fundraising efforts. Their support helps us put together a squad to try and compete in a savage division each year and I think it’s fantastic they’ve been recognised on the jerseys this season.”
