Feargal Logan & Kieran McGeeney react to Armagh’s victory over Tyrone

Armagh built on their impressive opening day win in Division One of the National Football League by beating All Ireland Champions, Tyrone 2-14 to 14 points in the Athletic Grounds on Sunday.

Goals from Jason Duffy and Greg McCabe helped Kieran McGeeney’s men to victory.

The game was somewhat marred by the fact there was five red cards with four of the red going to Tyrone.

Josh Moffett wins Galway International Rally

Josh Moffett has won the Galway International Rally by 14.1 seconds over Mierion Evans with Callum Devine and Brian Hoy in their Ford Fiesta who are in third.

Donegal’s David Kelly/Dean O’Sullivan finished in seventh.

Former Donegal International Rally winner Garry Jennings won the 24/25 RHD category.

Meanwhile Gary Kiernan and Daren O’Brien in their Ford Escort have won the National section with two minutes and 4.8 seconds to spare with Damian Toner and Denver Rafferty finishing in second.

Government should give VAT breaks to lower living costs – Doherty

The cost of living is now the public’s number one concern, according to a new poll.

The Sunday Independent/Ireland Thinks survey, shows 56 percent think it’s the most important issue – an increase of 28 points in a month.

Housing’s second on people’s list at 55 percent, up 11 points, while the Covid pandemic has dropped 18 points to nine percent.

Donegal Deputy Pearse Doherty thinks the government should seriously consider lowering or abolishing VAT rates for a time to help families tackle the sharp rise in the cost of living.

Grants could soon be offered for retrofitting homes

People looking to retrofit their home could soon be able to apply for a grant coving up to 80 percent of its cost.

The Cabinet will consider it as part of a number of measures to making retrofitting more affordable when it meets on Tuesday.

It’s expected the grant will be available in a number of weeks and could save households up to 400 euros on energy bills annually.

History made as Leona Maguire becomes first Irish winner on LPGA

Leona Maguire’s name will be forever etched in the history books for Irish golf as she became the countries first ever LPGA Tour winner.

The Cavan lady fired a five-under-par 67 to win the Drive On Championship in Florida.

Maguire finished on a score of 18-under-par, three shots clear of Lexi Thompson.

Boris should focus on NI Protocol – DUP Leader

The British Prime Minister’s being urged to focus on the political crisis in Northern Ireland – instead of controversial parties at Downing Street.

The leader of the DUP says Boris Johnson needs to pay more attention to discussions with the EU over the Northern Ireland Protocol.

The North’s First Minister, Paul Givan, resigned this week in a dispute over the post-Brexit trading arrangement.

But despite DUP threats that they will not return to power-sharing unless the Protocol is amended, Sinn Fein have insisted it should remain in place as it is.

Josh Moffett’s lead at the top of the Galway Interanational Rally has been cut to five seconds as Mierion Evans and Callum Devine close the gap as they battle for second.

Donegal’s Declan Boyle and James O’Reilly are out of the Rally after having mechanical problems.

Former Donegal International rally winner Gary Jennings leads the 24/25 RHD category, with over 4 minutes and 17 seconds between him and Tim McNulty and Paul Kiely.

Daniel McKenna/Andrew Grennan in their Ford Escort Mk2 lead the National Rally by 4.15 seconds over Gary Kiernan and Darren O’Brien.
