Price of fuel needs to be maintained at €1.75 per litre – Deputy Doherty

Sinn Fein is calling for the price of fuel to be immediately reduced to €1.75 a litre.

The government is due to meet this morning to bring in a cut to excise duty on petrol and diesel, resulting in a 15% to 20% reduction per litre.

However, it’s feared any reduction could soon be cancelled out, as oil prices spiral globally due to the war in Ukraine.

Prices in many forecourts reached €2 a litre this week.

Sinn Fein’s Finance Spokesperson, Donegal Deputy Pearse Doherty says the price of petrol and diesel needs to be maintained at €1.75 a litre:
