RNLI Lough Swilly assist swimmers in difficulty at Ludden Beach

The Lough Swilly RNLI crew were deployed yesterday afternoon, after swimmers got into difficulty at Ludden Beach near Buncrana.

No injuries were reported, but the RNLI have warned of the dangers of swimming at a low tide – and that yesterday could have produced a very different outcome.

They said with the various storms taking place on the Atlantic at this time of year, dramatic shifts in the sand can take place on beaches, making it unsafe to swim at lower tides.
